The Case of Lütfillah Tacik

Lütfillah Tacik, was seized in the Aralık district of the eastern region of Iğdır on May 16 in an operation launched by local gendarmeries to prevent human smuggling. As a result of the operation, 21 Afghan refugees, including seven children, were brought to the Iğdır Police Department Foreigners' Branch for deportation. 
Seven children, including Tacik, were then brought to the Van Children and Youth Center until the deportation process was concluded. On May 27, the Afghan children were brought to a repatriation center for a physical exam to check for communicable diseases and an age assessment. Tacik reportedly lost his life on May 31.
